We bought a desktop from another business and are trying to load one of our applications. The install software, Installanywhere, seems to begin, but continually locks up at 39% and then gives the message "Please select another locationto extract the installer to:". No matter where I tell it to try the install, it continues to do the same process and then gives the same message. I know there is space on the drive.
We've successfully loaded this program on another desktop without issue and it is legit to load it on multiple pc's.
We're using XP Pro 2002 with SP2. Any thoughts or suggestions on what to try to get a successful installation will be appreciated.
Thanks, Bill

Hi Bill,

Did you clean out the desktop after you bought it or did you begin installing software immediately? There maybe "stuff" lurking there or conflicting with the install process.

Have you been able to install other software on the desktop?
The desktop may need some updates or patches. - check out windows update - http://update.microsoft.com

You need to compare the working desktop to the one your trying to install on.

Post back with your answers and we can continue smile.gif

Michael,
No I did not clean up the Desktop, nor have I tried to install any other new applications. Is there a specific process that you suggest to properly clean it out?

Hi Bill,

First off we need to establish what you already have on your computer.

What Anti-Virus software are you running - is it upto date and does it run regularly.
You also need to check for Spyware so will need to install anti-spyware software.

I reccomend you download Spybot S&D - you can find full instructions on how to download install and use it here: http://www.spotmoonpc.com/fr/spybot%20report.pdf

Scanning for Viruses and Spyware will give us an idea of anything lurking on your computer.

Next you need to update Windows.

There are a few more steps required after that but I can help you through them too. After you know the computer is clean we can then look at the problem with the installation (there's a good chance its related)

Let me know how you get on, and feel free to contact me.
Michael
