Comcast, which provides Internet, phone and cable-TV service, said it altered the transmission of
BitTorrent files because they are so large they can slow the Internet-access speeds of other customers.As a result of the discussions between them, Comcast will adapt a capacity-management system that doesn't discriminate against BitTorrent users by the end of the year, and BitTorrent has acknowledged the need for Internet service providers to manage capacity on their networks, especially during times of peak usage.
