This is my 1st time at this site and just logged in. I've been having issues with "Adware Alert" since the day I downloaded it. Ad-Aware SE PRO marks it as Spyware and quarantines it. AVG does pretty much the same, however, it quarantines it as Trojan Horse SpySheriff.D. I guess I'm asking is Adware Alert a "for real" Spy Ware detector or a scam? I should add I'm using Windows XP. I could use some help with this issue.
Thanks

Welcome to SAF, Wildland13.

I'm not familiar with Adware Alert, but it does get some decent reviews and is available on all the top download sites. From what I can gather, it's not a 'rogue' spyware scanner.

Best to post a HijackThis log so we can see what's going on. Please read this tutorial for details and post the log in your reply.

HKEd's advice is good. However, as to Adware Alert, it used to be on Eric Howes' list of rogue spyware programs but no longer is:

My preference is to avoid products with a checkered past. There are sufficient products, some even free, which have a good track record. Eric Howes gives a list of what he calls trustworthy products.
