Hey Moon ol' buddy! If you are running Firefox, just get the Flash download button for Firefox; go to your Utube website, call up your video and click the button. It saves and you are done. One mouse click.
Firefox Video Downloader

If you want to view it easy, I use Super Video Converter (free) to convert it to mpeg2 and play it on whatever you want. OR you can convert it to mpeg3 and strip the sound only if you so desire.

Super File Converter
Since the author wants you to read his rather amateurish webpage, it is a pain to find the download link.
*Click on my link, Super File Converter
*Dial to the bottom of the page, click on "Start Downloading SUPER".
*Dial about 4 or 5 lines down and click on the blue hot link, "download and use",
*Dial to the bottom of the next page and click on one of the 4 mirror sites on the left; 27 meg download

Super, as you will see, is a very serious piece of software! Don't be intimidated, just drag your FLV file and drop it in the lower window, make sure you are set to mpeg2 and click the convert button. In a few seconds you have an mpeg2 file.

I found it rather handy hello.gif

I just found this one too...

Flash Video Resources Downloader

It seems to imply that the other is outdated, but of that I'm not sure.

This is what's stated there...

Like the VideoDownloader extension, but up to date on changing sites & supporting new sites constantly. Sick of using the VideoDownloader extension that is outdated, doesn't work with half the sites it used to & doesn't work with ANY of the new sites? This extension keeps up to date on video sites when they make updates to stop from being downloaded and is constantly adding new sites. It just adds a small icon to the status bar of your Firefox browser. Just click it to download the video you are watching!

Works with: Firefox: 1.5 – 3.0b4pre

The best solution i suggest is vdownloader. VDownloader is a computer software that helps you download and save videos from the Internet. Download videos from YouTube, MySpace, iFilm, DailyMotion, Metacafe and much more. You can also convert videos using VDownloader. VDownloader comes packed with features you cannot afford to miss. VDownloader will help you keep those great video clips you always wanted to keep.

Hi nirudyogi hello.gif

Thanks for the link. How long have you used Vdownloader??

And after downloading from You Tube, what do you use to play the videos on???

Lorraine, I doubt you'll get a response from the spammer but since the thread's been bumped from 2008, I don't know why anyone would want to use a 3rd party tool to "download" youtube (or any other web based) videos that your browser is already downloading to it's cache.
I just manually copy them from my Opera cache into another store folder, rename to .flv and play in VLC.

Hi smurfy, hello.gif

Nice to see you again.----"[your browser is already downloading to it's cache]" Where do you find the cache??

I know I should know where it is, but I don't. Right now I'm on my VISTA laptop.

Thanks
Angoid
The browser's cache is essentially the temporary internet files folder. You can fish around there for them, and look for the most recent files (order them by reverse chronological order) and look for a file that is of the order of MBs (depending on the size of the downloaded file).

On this XP box, it is located here:

C:\Documents and settings\Angus\Local settings\Temporary Internet Files

Instead of 'Angus', you'll see your own name or whatever name you're logged on as.

In IE7, you can go to Tools >> Internet Options, then click on the Settings button in the Browser History of the General tab, then click the View Files button. This will bring up all your TIFs.

Thanks Angus hug 2.gif hope all is fine with you. flower.gif

I think it would just be easer for me to find a third party program.
