hello. i hope you guys could help me. i'm having problems with my desktop. it used to have internet but all of a sudden the internet was gone! whenever i open my internet browsers or try to connect to yahoo messenger, i always get the messages that says there might be an error with my internet connection. *sigh* i tried repairing the network connection and reconnecting the wires of the lan and the router but still, nothing happened. sad.gif i have utorrent installed in it. as i can recall, i did this portforwarding thing on it but after doing it, the internet connection was still okay. i also have bitdefender and avgas installed.. i really don't know what caused the problem so please help me out.

i'll be waiting for your response guys. thanks so much.

Try downloading and running the winsock fix. If that doesn't help, it's possible that the router is defective. If possible, try another computer on the same line. Or, the modem could be bad or a loss of signal going into it.

hey, thanks for the response. i tried running winsock fix but it still won't connect to the net. i'm using a router (linksys wrt54g) to which the line's connected, btw. i tried using the same line on my laptop (turned off the wireless) and it was able to connect to the net. i'm not sure if this info could help but i set the INTERNET PROTOCOL (TCP/IP) PROPERTIES to "obtain an ip address automatically" and "obtain dns servers automatically" after doing so,there was a pop up about bitdefender's miniport firewall and bonjour service's something...

hope you could take time to reply. thanks again.

well it sounds like you could either have a bad cable..... or you may need to reinstall your network componants
....

BitDefender may be blocking it. Try turning it off. Your router is a rather effective hardware firewall in itself. I've no experience with BitDefender, so can't help you much with that.
