Full Version: Internet Works But Can't Connect To My Own Site/domain
Suggest A Fix PC Support Forums > Internet > Internet Issues

Hey all.

Well, my problem is rather complicated it seems.

My internet connection works 110% fine but I cannot access my own website. Now, the domain is there and works because I've contacted about 10 or so people and everyone can access my site just fine. I've gone to two different friend's houses and, again, everything works fine and I can get on my site AND access my control panel. I've even talked with my host which is http://www.surpasshosting.com and they've also assured me that everything is up and running. They've even told me to check if I could connect to my site via the proxy site http://www.anonymouse.org and I was able to see my site!

So, everything is fine on the domain/host side.

I've contacted my ISP and everything works great on their side as well. They've even helped me checked if my computer was blocking the particular site and it wasn't. We even tried disabling my firewall to see if that was the problem and nothing. I still can't connect.

I'm trying to connect to the particular site on the following browsers and it won't work on any of them:

IE - 7.05
Opera - 9.26
Firefox - 2.0.0.12

I get errors that the browser can't connect or access the site but it won't say why.

I've tried accessing other sites hosted by surpass and I can access them all just fine.

My site info:
Domain: coloryoursoul.com
IP Address: 66.7.210.44
http://coloryoursoul.com

Funny thing is that I WAS connecting to my site just fine and then, literally from one day to the next I couldn't anymore. I basically went to bed and when I woke up the problem started.

I haven't changed anything or downloaded any programs, packs, etc.

This is ming boggling and it's driving me nuts. Please help!

I have Wind XP Home Edition and er, that's all I know.

Welcome, mailyns!

There are a couple of items in your computer that could be blocking the site. One is the HOST file, but your IP would have intentionally been added to that, so we'll rule that out. Perhaps the site got added to the blocked sites list in the Internet Explorer Security section, or in your anti-spyware program.

With the help of my internet provider we checked my allowed sites and my blocked sites and it's in neither of these so we added them to the allowed sites just in case and nothing but the same thing is happening with Mozilla and Opera so I don't think it's an IE thing.

Also I don't have an anti-spyware program running since this whole thing started just in case. I've even disabled my anti virus. cry.gif

Sorry for the late reply, my internet was off. The problem has been solved!

Thank you all kindly for your help. My next door neighbor heard me complaining outside and offered to help and he fixed it!

Thank you thank you everyone for helping me. ^_^ wub.gif thumb up.gif smooch.gif hug 2.gif

Hi guys!

Can you tell me how you solved this problem, or does anybody have a suggestion? I have the very same problem, down to the "t", and I have NO idea what I've done to anger the Gods. Seriously, it's driving me up the walls.

I can't access my web site www.knowingme.org via Firefox, IE, Thunderbird or a FTP client, I can't ping it, but I am certain that everything is fine on the server side: all my friends can access it, I can connect to it through www.net2ftp.com and it also works fine when I use a proxy. I contacted my ISP and they told me that they'll never selectively block access to a particular site, so I'm really at a loss.

What on Earth is happening here?

Hope you can help me!
Matthias.

I do not understand why people post asking for help then when they find a solution they do not share it with the rest of us... beatsme.gif

Yeah... Kinda sucks, huh? But I'm no better :-( I solved my problem and shoulda posted here sooner. Here's what was wrong for me: my web site provider had blocked all communication between my web page's server and the IP of our home network (i.e. our internet IP, the one you see when you go to www.whatismyip.com) because "of too many attempts to access it". So, I wrote them an e-mail and they un-blocked me.

So, if you're the only person in the world who can't access your own web site, chances are your provider is blocking you because you fiddled around too much with it.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

I also have the same problem, same as the top posting, I did call my host and it's not them, my Isp told me they do not block me. I can access my site on my wife laptop but not on mine or my son's, I did all the steps with antivirus and firewall and browsers cache and all , Also flushed my ip and dns , scaned my pc with 3 anti virus systems even an online scanning, ran antispyware and all , nothing works. I bypassed my Linksys router. that did not work either.
I can ping the ip address but the result is 100% lost packet, and when I do a trace it times out after 4 hops some time 3. I checked the Host file and it's all fine there.

all my site stuff is on my pc I can't use my wife laptop to update the site.
only thing I can mentioned , the host had a STP problem a day before and I had a lot of trouble uploading the changes to my site. Could the STP problem be the culprit?
I'm at a loss.
I have found in many forums people with a similar problem but no one gives a solution on how they got it fixed.
Thanks
I will post if I resolve the problem ,so far I have spent about 20 hours on this and no solutions, upgrading to SP3 did not help.

Well I promised and there it is
I fixed my problem
I downloaded the self support tool from ATT DSL help page(my ISP) and scanned my system and it found that I did not have enough cache size for my browser, it even increased it by 5% and it worked right away, I'm back and it's a relief . This was the toughest problem i ever had to fix so far, on the good side I also got to fix my SPS 3 installation too, last time it rebooted forever after installation, the AMD issue was the problem , I renamed intelppm.sys /intelppm.bak and SPS3 went in without a snag.
Thanks you all.
