sad.gif ! As i was transferring a rar file from my laptop to my external hard drive, i was suddenly given the notification that the write delay was failed, or something of the sort? A couple seconds after that, i was given the dreaded blue screen of death. After my laptop restarted, once i reached the login screen, i was given the BSOD AGAIN! I realized that the external was the problem, so i unplugged it and it and i booted fine. Once i plugged it in again, i was given a BSOD 2 seconds after i plugged in the external. I tried plugging it in into another computer as well, and the computer just forcibly restarted. Tried on yet another laptop, was given the same blue screen of death. I can't even ATTEMPT to format it since everytime it gets plugged in i get a blue screen of death sad.gif Oh yeah, it's also powered by usb cable only, and its a 120 GB External hard drive I was recommended this forum by a friend saying that i'd usually get the answer i need within an hour so i'm here giving it at try tongue.gif I hope somebody can help me ^^

By the way, the error was called

You should state your O/S (Operating System - Win95, 98FE, 98SE, WinME, Win2000, WinXP, etc) when posting in Hardware related threads. A search of the MSKB shows the stop: 0x00000024 error to be associated with;

Are you running Win2000 Pro?

Boot into Safe Mode. (Without the external drive connected.)
Check Device Manager for any irregularities.
Remove any problem devices.
Shut down for thirty seconds or so. (This lets RAM "bleed-off" stored data.)
Restart/reboot.

If any devices were removed in the above scenario, the HAL comparison on bootup should invoke the "Hardware Wizard" to search the machine and assign applicable drivers and resources for the hardware found.

Post back with your results, and any further questions.

No luck, but when i do try to plug in the USB External Hard Drive, it resets my laptop even in safe mode

Sorry for the delay, I'm building a house for someone in the Rockies and I usually stay on the site for a few days at a time.

"... it's also powered by usb cable only"

If the external drive doesn't have it's own "power-pack", that may be the problem. It may be demanding too much power from the laptop. A powered USB hub may alleviate the problem.
