After the initial automatic update ran I was givin the option to install (if you want to call it that) the MRT. I chose to but I'm not sure if I really should have...? In hind sight i really should have read more about it. I since have read all I could but still would like some thoughts on this MS product and if Its a good idea to have this program run (when it wants) on a computer espesially when- Say you have other anti-virus and spyware programs already installed on a system. The program runs once a month invisible to the user unless it finds something then automatically sends the results to MS. I've found a way to stop it from sending info to them----- Q3. How can I disable the infection-reporting component of the tool so that the report is not sent back to Microsoft?

A3. An administrator can choose to disable the infection-reporting component of the tool by adding the following registry key value to computers. If this registry key value is set, the tool will not report infection information back to Microsoft.
Subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\MRT
Entry name: \DontReportInfectionInformation
Type: REG_DWORD
Value data: 1
This functionality is automatically disabled if the following registry key value exists:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\WUServer
This registry key value indicates that the computer is connected to an SUS server.

Q4. With the March release, data in the Mrt.log file appears to have been lost. Why was this data removed, and is there a way for me to retrieve it?

A4. Starting with the March release, the Mrt.log file is being written as a Unicode file. To make sure of compatibility, when the March version of the tool is run, if an ANSI version of the file is on the system, the tool will copy the contents of that log to Mrt.log.old in %WINDIR%\debug and create a new Unicode version of Mrt.log. Like the ANSI version, this Unicode version will be appended to with each successive execution of the tool. -----------

BUT I have learnd there really isn't any uninstall feature for this program because it does not reside on your system. I looked over and over to find a way to prevent it from ever running in the first place and couldn't find one but I may have missed it in all the literature:( My firewall >Comodo< defense+ has detected that MRT.exe is an unknown program and waiting for my decision to add it to safe or not... I sent the info to Comodo for analysis... but still no more info on how to treat this program. I know its safe but what if I dont want it, Right... I hope someone might know more about this issue>>> thanks JML

Try to move it to another location on your hard drive without deleting it and see what happens; that’s what I did and I don’t see any issues so far with my system.
