Full Version: How To Delete Imap Emails W/o Downloading First?

I recently changed from Outlook Express to Mozilla Thunderbird, as Outlook wouldn't allow me to save my Sent and Draft emails in my IMAP folders, so my two computers had different local Sent and Draft folder contents which was very inconvenient..

So I solved one problem by changing email programs but I created another - previously, after much configuring, I managed to force Outlook to let me download email "headers" (subject lines) only, and I was able to delete email messages at the server without wasting bandwith and time by downloading them first.

Now Thunderbird doesn't seem to want to let me do this. I have been through every option and setting about ten times but still it insists on downloading the message (often with huge attachment I don't want or need) before deleting it. Oddly, there seems to be no option of "Download headers only" that Outlook had.

How can I fix it please?

Thanks in advance

For Me, I have Thunderbird 2.0.0.9

Goto Tools / Account Settings / Then Select The Account you need to change /
Then look at Server Settings / In the middle you should see Fetch Headers Only /
Check that box and click okay..and that should do it
