I had to re-fresh the router. I have each of our PC's set to manually set the IP address.
But 2 of our (home) pc's have are some how using the same IP address.

My Dtr's PC, when I go to Run/cmd/Ipconfig it says 192--- .5
When I go to Control Panel /Network Connections / Broadband (she is not wireless, router is hard wired into her PC) then to TCP & Properties, it says 192---.4 (which is what it should be).

when I go to Run/Cmd/Ipconfig on my sons- the IP Address is all zeros.

SO,
On my Dtrs- how do I configure so the IP Address is correct (.4) and that Run/Cmd/Ipconfig matches the Control Panel /Network Connections / Broadband/ TCP setttings?

Right-click your active local connection on each system, select properties, highlight the TCP/IP protocol, click properties and manually set a different IP address to each machine (mine is the third one on the local network, as shown below):

reboot to the changes takes effect.

As you can see, ipconfig must show the same thing, unless something is badly wrong...

Hi sethm1,

Chris' information is correct, just a note that with Windows 2000 and newer you do not need to reboot after changing TCP/IP settings.
IP address, mask, gateway and DNS are all dynamically set. As soon as you click Ok and the properties window closes a Command Prompt ipconfig will (should) show the proper settings.
I would use "ipconfig /all" though - if you have more than one network adapter (e.g. a wireless and an ethernet) ipconfig might show you the wrong one.
