Okay, here's a simple question...at least I hope its simple.... I have 2 drives in my computer; I was having some issues where the computer wasn't recognizing the full size of each drive. I solved that ( it was jumpered incorrectly) and on the slave drive, I backed everything up to an external drive, wrote zeros to the slave so the computer would allow me to use the whole size and reloaded everything back on.

The Master drive is 60 GB, but because of the problem above, only 32GB is recognized and partitioned. Here's my question-- can I add a new partition for the remaining portion (28GB) without losing the data already on the (32 GB) recognized portion of the drive?

I'm a little nervous about messing with it, because I don't want to have to reload everything (operating system, drivers etc) if I screw it up.....

I'm using XP Pro....

Thanks!

It would help if you mention which OS you're using:)

Try click in Start->Run and type: diskmgmt.msc
If the remaining space is Unallocated, you can safely right click on and select "create partition."

If the remaining space doesn't show up, you'd have to do a fresh install of the OS now that the jumper is set correctly.

I'm running XP Pro--

Thanks for the suggestion-- I didn't know about the Diskmgmt capability-- I did it and it worked like a charm!

Many Thanks,
