when i play a non wide screen movie i get a letter box type of showing instead of the whole screen. can anyone help me? hp pavillion zv6000, running xp home edition.

From looking up the specs on your laptop, it is a widescreen laptop. Any movie that is non-widescreen, when played in full screen mode, would have the black bars going down the sides. That is just like if you watch a widescreen movie on a standard screen, you have the black bars across the top and bottom.

but cory can you tell me why some nonwide screens take up the entire screen? and i have watched movies this way up untill a month or so ago. thanks for your help
