So for some odd reason I think I noticed that when I delete a bookmark (favorite) in Internet Explorer that it just disappears; where does it go.

Lets say if I go to www.tired.com (lol an actual site BTW)
Bookmark it as a favorite

Then tomorrow I choose to delete it

I cant find it in my Recycle Bin; so where is it??? Is in IE7; once its deleted its gone permanently?

Used to be that every time you would delete a favorite (via the menu; in browser BTW) that it would go to the trash.

So again, if one uses the in browser menu to delete a bookmark does it go away permanently and am I presuming that if one finds the actual file to the bookmark it will go to the trash?

Thanks for any insight

It'll take you about three seconds to create a bookmark to this thread and delete it eek5.gif

You "should" see the message confirming the delete and that it will send it to the recycle bin...

Apparently my IE7 is set to permanently delete files/bookmarks; ok so how do I change that? You see it doesnt say "to recycle bin" it says "permanently delete"

Right click on the Recycle Bin->Properties->is there a check mark in the confirm deletion box?

Also, make sure you aren't holding the shift key when you delete.

It was checked but I un checked it

However it still isnt working

I right click and choose delete (bookmark) and then I back to explore the recycle bin and it still doenst show the bookmark.

I suppose I should bring this info to Microsoft

I just figured out something else as well

My Computer>C(F) Drive>Users>(name)>Favorites

If I delete the bookmark within the actual folder I will see that it deletes it to the recycle bin

On the other hand

If I delete the bookmark within the Internet Browser (IE 7) itself it permanently deletes it; which seems odd.

a person on microsofts community suggested that any Symantec product installed may have a factor.

disable any add ons until I find the culprit

however here is my conclusion:

Okay add ons are not the problem and I think I solved it.

You see with me I have created my own personal home page with over 300 links completely categorized; you can get a taste of it by visiting:

www.larrytolman.com/Anyone.htm

Anyways when I click the Internet Explorer Icon it loads up my personal page. When I click any link on that page it opens up a new window and likewise for every link I click on the home page if I didnt close the window it just opens up a new tab.

Now I've tested this and I think I have solved it (again LOL)

If I delete a bookmark while on 1 window it will say "permanently delete" but if I delete the bookmark on my home page it will say "send to recycle bin"

So again

Click IE icon it loads up my home page; if I delete the bookmark here; it will recycle it in the recycle bin

Click IE icon, it loads up my home page, I click a link and it loads a new window where I start surfing and delete a bookmark and it will "permanently delete it"

Thus its a Microsoft IE 7 issue smile.gif
