Newbie,my first post. Just bought gateway desktop,c2d 2.13ghz,400gig hd,tv tuner,lan,7300le video card,and it came with v/ultimate. performance nos. well above 5 except graphics. I need suggestions for new graphic cards to reach 5,and can't see $250 more.Please tell me what you think? DRJ confused.gif

You have to educate yourself, otherwise you will be going on the opinions of other people and that is the best way to waste a lot of money.

Go to Newegg, and dial down the page to the "Video Card Information Learning Center" for the basics that will get you going. My opinion? Go with Nvidia platform card, and minimally 256 MB ram, and no less than a 600MHz processor on the card.

Newegg has dozens of cards listed, and importantly, view the user's comments, which is a really great help.

Thanks for reply,Ranchhand. These sites may be clear to you,but what can one learn from "buy it it's great!"x100 for every card there? The best site i've found for tests is www.legion hardware.com
Trying to find people running vista on core2duo,average test over 5,tell me what card you are running. I'd be glad to hear of other sites,hope to hear from more users. Don Julian

Ranchhand,you were right! After checking to see what manufacturers were putting in multi media TIGER has xfx 8600gt xxx + COH for $90 a/r I'll try that. Thanks again, Don J
