Hi All, how are you going...,?
Recently downloaded Direct X10 as I was advised to get the latest version... I hope this is correct...? Your thoughts?
Anyway, after opening up the file, it then asks me where to install the files, & I have no idea...! Again, your thoughts please...?
Cheers,
Mike from NZ.

Hi Mike,
It was probably not properly installed. You can download/install it from this MS link:

I may be wrong, but I read somewhere a long time back that if the video card you are using isn't "DirectX ##" ready, then installing later versions are a waste of time. I don't do serious gaming or other intense graphics, so I'm really not up much on this.

Jim you are correct if the card can't run it then installing it will not work. Run a check on your card's specs. Also find out what updates might be available for your card.

I have run a check on my graphics card, (ATI Radeon 9550), & d/loaded the lastest drivers too. However, I don't seem to be able to find anywhere it saying whether or not it is DirectX 10. compatible. I guess if it was, then it would say so...
I think I'll leave out trying to update to DirectX 10, (maintaining the old maxim - if it ain't broke, don't fix it!). It functions really well, & the new software that came with the driver updates, cetainly have given me enough 'settings' to trial out in my quest to produce the best graphics I can from this particular card. It's not as if I was into gaming as such, just decent streaming media, etc, as most of us seem to be...
Anyway, thanks everyone for your input.
Bye for now,
Mike, from NZ
