I have a Maxtor 3200 hardrive that is only about a year old, the drive worked fine up untill about a month ago, i restored the computer after some trojan and spyware got on the computer, and after that now the computer says the drive is corrupt or unreadable. I have 80g of music on there that is impossible to replace, so what can I do?

Thanks Matt

Use Knoppix or UBCD to bypass the harddrive and operating sytem, and then drag and drop your files onto a CD and burn them, or a flash drive. Then you can reformat.

By the way, if you had your music files on the drive and then restored from a restore disk, the files are permanently lost since everything has been over-written. If you loaded your music files on the drive after you had restored it, they are probably still there and can be salvaged, unless they were corrupted somehow.

If you would like a tutorial on Knoppix, I can post one.
