i was looking at getting a new mobo and dual core cpu,
then i had an idea of doing it a bit cheaper using my existing mobo
which is an Asus A8N-VM. after googling for a while i came across a few sites saying that i can
upgrade the mobo with an AMD athlon 64x2 CPU.. is this correct and if it is will i need to upgrade my bios to support this.. thanks again for taking the time to read this ..

The only sure way to check on something like this is to go to the manufacturer's site and read what they say about it.
