Hi dpw...I'd disable XP's firewall and replace it with Comodo.

I'm not a great fan of software firewalls (I have a hardware firewall), but with a 24/7 connection, you need more than the XP firewall.

Presumably you have an antivirus scanner along with the anti-spyware programs?

What do you use as your primary browser? Do you use file-sharing?

Sorry...I thought AVG 7.5 was AVG Anti-Spyware (they both use 7.5 as a product number).

XP's firewall provides limited protection, so Comodo is a better option.

It's important to keep Windows updated with the latest patches.

As to browsers, I prefer Firefox as it's more secure, but IE6 is OK with SpywareBlaster installed. I do not like IE7.

You have sufficient protection, but no amount of protection will help if you allow certain trojans through the defence - for example, using keygen programs to crack games, installing CODEC 'updates' etc.. As long as you don't do anything daft, you'll be fine.

In addition to Ed's comments, Firefox is invisible to many of the spyware hijackers. As it becomes more popular I am sure that will change but for now it is a big plus. In addition, if you configure it properly it is far faster than IE (in my opinion).

avg is a poor scanner....its not gud to use many individual copies...better use a total security suite like eset, bitdefender n crack it
