I decided to post my New Year's Resolutions for 2008 here. I hope to do better about keeping these. I did not do too well in keeping the 2007 New Year's Resolutions. Here are my New Year's Resolutions for 2008:
1. Save $20 a month for Property Taxes. Then when taxes come due in the fall, I will have the money to pay them instead of taking it in one bite from my check.
2. Start depositing at least $20 a month in my long neglected savings account.
3. Start a Christmas Club at the bank. Deposit $25 a week.
4. For a Rainy Day Fund, deposit $5 a week. Continue doing this until I reach an amount such as $500.
5.Every Friday afternoon, I will empty all my change from my purse and deposit it in my bank at home. In addition to this week's change, I will deposit the change that I get back from the grocery store when I pay for my groceries. I must figure out
what my groceries are going to cost and take only that amout of
money with me. In addition to this, I will deposit all change and bills left at the end of each month in my bank at home.
6. I will resolve to stop putting things off. Nobody is going to do the work but me and if I don't do it, the work just won't get done. Having the work undone is unacceptable to me.
7. Wash, dry, and put away the dishes after every meal.
8. Wipe off the kitchen counters and range after every meal.
9. Sweep the kitchen each day if it needs sweeping.
10. Begin cleaning the dining room.
11. Do not load up the dining room table with anything such as old
mail or things that don't belong there.
12. Get in shape. To this end, begin a walking program with Little
Bit.
13. Pay all bills on time.
14. Clear out the clutter by my chair in the living room.
15. Clean off the patio.
16.Trim the trees that have grown in the patio.
17. Trim back the trees that have overgrown the fence. Don't trim all of them because the birds live in these.
18. Trim the azaleas and all other shrubbery that needs trimming/pruning.
19. Clear out the storage house.
20. Clean my home each week.
21. Start decluttering/cleaning this week.
22. Sweep all of home.
23. Wipe off all walls and light fixtures.
24. Place furniture in a new arrangement for the new year.
25. Sweep all porches and patio once a week.
26. Wash windows.
27. Wipe off doors and doorknobs.
28. See that Little Bit has fresh food and water every day.
29. See that Little Bit has clean dishes to eat and drink out of.
30. Come home when you say that you are going to.
31. Begin teaching Little Bit to walk correctly on a leash.
32. Begin teaching Little Bit to stay outside in the Spring.

These are all the New Year's Resolutions I could think of for this year. I will be posting my progress of lack thereof. What are your New Year's Resolutions this year?[/i][/b]

I hope you can keep most of them Jeannie. I don't bother making any Resolutions, because I can't keep them.

I don't at my age........I figure I am living on borrowed time anyway.
I think your Resolutions ought to start out........"Once upon a time, in a land far, far away........"
Good luck to you .

Try to keep at them Jeannie, just because we don't keep them, it doesn't mean you can't.
What you could do is, try the easy ones first, then check them off as you go.

Thanks Lorraine.

I would really like to try and get them all accomplished this year. I might not, but I would like to try. I will do as you suggest--start with the easy ones first. I have been preoccupied with getting a new computer as you know and have been distracted so I have not done as much as I had hoped by this time, but I will give it a go next week.

One of my New Year's Resolutions that I failed to mention is to completely declutter and clean my house in 2008. Toward that end, I am beginning tomorrow on a plan to declutter the house. I have six rooms if you include the bath and the laundry area. I have decided to focus on one room a week and try and clean that room by the end of the week. That being said, I told Little Bit that tomorrow begins Hallway and Bathroom Week here. What that means is that I will clean the hallway and the bathroom this week. I will post a list of my progress starting tomorrow.

Hi everybody!
I did not do too much in January toward the New Year's Resolutions. However, it is still a brand new year and this is a brand new month. Here is the progress that I did make.
1. I started a Christmas Club earlier this month. I made my first deposit of $20 in it.
2. I have 3 bags of trash/clutter that are ready to go otd and this afternoon, that is where I will take them.
Another resolution is to pay for a new computer. The progress on this resolution is excellent. As most of you know, I bought a Vista computer in January. My bad! I worked with it? almost two weeks and finally decided that I should take it back and get the money which I did in January. I still the Christmas money (amount ($300). The computer costs $750. I spoke to Jerry, the guy who owns the mom and pop computer shop here and he said that when I send him the $300, then he will begin work on my computer.
This afternoon, when I get home I will roll pocket change. I have a bank that I filled the last of January and I decided that the money is going to go toward the cost of my new computer. I don't know how much I have, but I am hoping that I have another hundred in change and bills here. Yesterday and this morning I rolled pennies and I have finished them except for 5. It turns out that I have a nickel in change purse so what I am going to do is to swap the 5 pennies for a nickel and put the nickel with the other nickels. This afternoon I roll nickels.

Hi everybody!
Here is the progress on my New Year's Resolutions.

1. I resolved that Little Bit would have fresh food and water every day. She does.
2. I resolved to trim the shrubbery. The azaleas, forsythia, and spirea are trimmed. That leaves the rest of it.
3. I resolved to start a walking program with Little Bit. I must do better at this.
[color="#00cccc"]4. I resolved to completely clean my house in 2008. I started and accomplished quite a lot in the kitchen, living room, dining room, and hallway. Then I stopped. I am going to restart this week.
5. I resolved to deposit $20 a week in my long neglected savings account. I have deposited nothing. Have to do better than this. I did start a Christmas Club in January. I deposited $20 in this account.
6. I resolved to deposit $5 a week (?) or month into a rainy day fund. I have forgotten all about this. I must do this. I have been hit with quite a few rainy days lately. Little Bit has tested positive for heartworms and the bill for the treatments (there are 3 of them) is $661.43. The bill at the first of this month (May) was $109. I took her in for her rabies shot and they gave her that plus a parvo shot plus they ran three other tests and they trimmed her nails.

Good for you, I admire your tenacity.
Yes, I am very new, enjoy helping where I can. I have also had help, quick service from
Ironbender (Chris) who I understand only writes English.............does not speak it, just amazing me thinks to be able to offer the service he does.

I have paid all my bills on time (even early) every month since March.

Re the resolution of cleaning my entire house in 2008: last night I began again. I filled one 33 gallon bag of trash and put it otd. This morning, I filled another bag with trash and it too went otd. I am going to try and work some tonight. However, if I don't get to I will work this weekend on the house. One of the groups that I belong to is doing a Memorial Day Cleaning Challenge. If you choose to join the people who started this, you are supposed to do this challenge in memory of a loved one so I'm doing my Memorial Day Challenge in memory of Daddy. My challenge is to completely clean the hallway, bathroom, and office.

Hi everybody,
Yesterday and the day before I worked on the New Year's Resolution of cleaning my house in 2008. Toward that end, I tossed out one keyboard box, one computer box, and two 33 gallon bags of paper.

My bills have been paid on time since March 1.
Little Bit has clean dishes to eat and drink from.
Have not saved anything in my savings account. I am saving my change every Friday and at the end of the month until the bank at the house gets full. Then I will take the change to the bank.
Must work on building up the total in the Christmas Club account.
Must start Rainy Day Fund.
Resolution 5 done (deposit change every Friday and after coming from the grocery store.) I have not figured out exactly what the groceries cost me so that I can take just this amount of money with me.
I resolved to stop putting things off. I need to re-resolve not to put things off (is re-resolve a word??). I was doing great and then the weather got hot. I am going to begin again this weekend.
Need to work on dishes.
Need to work on cleaning counters.
Need to work on sweeping kitchen.
Need to work on dining room.
Need to begin walking program with Little Bit.
All bills paid on time.
Need to work on clutter in living room. Also need to place furniture correctly and to work on the pile of clutter by my chair in the living room.
Work on cleaning off the patio and trimming the trees that have grown up there.
Bushes on fence have been trimmed. It turned out that the bushes that had overgrown my fence were all on my neighbor's side and this spring earlier, he cleared them all out.
Go through and see what needs to be brought into the house from the storage house.
