I gave it a shot using the info from here. Set to boot from USB and it tells me something like can't find kernel? I'll try again and get correct info. Playing with my self Santa 22" LCD.

Making a flash drive bootable can be a pain; better to download the CDrom ISO and boot from a CD/DVD.

RH. I have live cds for a pile of the discros?(sp) But I have time on hand as being disabled. And I just like to know how things work. Yes I have the cds and I also let folks upload from me. For ISO. I haven't tried the USB deal again, but one thing I didn't do, was use the HP format program. Maybe my ISO is bad??

"Ya" see My PM?

Don't do PMs?? Let me know

Hi BB,

Yes, I got your PM but it is best to answer on the forum; it may be that some others have suggestions for you also. Plus the fact that we all can learn. At this point, I suggest just re-downloading the ISO from the website and burn to a CD. I have never had a problem.

Pick the 5.1 ENG about 696 megs. Hope you have broadband!

OK. Here's what the PM was about.

I got the new LCD monitor, per suggestion by RH. Am happy with it. But think I need to adjust the colors, contrast for me. Does anyone know of a web site that'll put up a test pattern, like to adjust old TVs? Maybe new glasses are the answer? I'm getting old and belive if it ain't broke, don't fix it. My best learning experiences come from have to,and stupid mistakes. Thanks Ranchhand and please take this as a xmas joke. "Anyone needing answers about new LCD monitors, please look under Unix, Linux, and BSD help please." Merry Whatever! bb

That's amazing, the contrast on that thing is at least 700:1. PLease detail exactly what the problem is. As a suggestion, you must run LCD monitors at what is called the native resolution. When I unpacked my monitor, there was a plastic sheet protector across the screen, and printed on it was the native resolution that you should set your monitor at, otherwise the picture will not be normal or sharp. I believe your native resolution for the 20" Acer is 1680 x 1050. Did you set your resolution to that?

Haven't done it yet myself, but I just got a new 8GB shiny and we expect Monday at the office to be slow. ;-)

Thanks Datababe. I'll add to my folder on USB. I'll work on it later. Merry Whatever! bb
