After the password fiasco, I updated and let it run a few hrs. Yesterday I got my new lcd and moved the old crt to the 2k box. Now no boot and 1 beep. Board is an Abit AT-7. Guessing an Award bios.

About time to put the old thing out of it's misery. Still thinking I smell something hot. Will open case and have a look soon. Video card is an ATI RADEON 9000 128MB AGP.

Happy Holidays bb I gave it a shake and now working! Go figure.

"One beep" is normally "normal." It's when you get "beeeeeeep beep-beep-beep beeeeeeep" that you find out you've got fried memory under 640K (or some other really bad POST situation).

Yep, I then thought I'd best try it with my hearing aids to check for more beeps. The old thing sounds like a corn combine running. laugh.gif
