Hi, I just built a new comp. but it's running kind of hot and was wondering if there is a freeware or sometype of program that can monitor CPU temps without going into BIOS. I'm not sure if i need to have an extra fan or what. The mobo is fairly old but the rest is up to date. Also, I tried looking on the manufacturer's site to find out the max cpu temp. but didn't find much. Anyway I can find this out?

Have a read of this article:

How do I Monitor CPU Temperature?

You'll find links to temperature measuring programs there.

I use a HD utility called HD Tune. A temp monitor is shown when it's running.

If you Google maximum cpu temperature, you'll get plenty of hits (1,780,000 to be exact smile.gif). Max temp varies a lot depending on the processor.
