Hi,

I'm completely new here, and only found this after a very frustrating morning/early afternoon. I found Interceptor's 2005 article reviewing various anti virus programs. It starts by saying he does this every year, but also that he had a growing business that was slowing this down (in 2005). Did he stop? Did anyone else pick it up? Does anyone know if the information from that article is still pretty current?

I'm running Windows XP on a 3 year old laptop. I got completely disgusted with Norton Antivirus (which originally came on the laptop) and switched to MacAffee about two years ago. I now hate MacAffee more then Norton, as it now seems to need me to restart my computer every time I turn it on (making it very annoying for me to ever get any work done).

Judging from the article and what else I could find by searching the internet, it looked like Avast and AntiVir together, plus maybe another firewall, would be good choices? I'm not as much of a geek as I used to be -- I can still read and figure out a little more than the average person who doesn't have a job in the computer field, but I still need things that are relatively simple for someone who doesn't want to work with computers all day (I'm a musician who helped people with simple computer problems in high school and college, and could program in Basic when I was 6).

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Caera
