One more time, before I post a long, quizzical topic asking why a software giant would offer a program that's essentially useless...
...Is there actually a way to make Picasa re-scan for new images each time it is run, or while it's running?
Tools > Folder Manager select directories to "Scan Always" and directories to be "Watched Folders" does not do the trick!
Also, Jim, I found that checking View > Small Pictures doesn't solve the problem after all.

Sorry I've been away so I missed this. Picassa is a very nice photo orgonizer. Mine pics up photos within seconds of them being loaded. I'm at work right now so I do not have access to my picassa but I can tell you offhand that it has a setting in it's options to scan or not to scan when running. do you have the picassa icon in your system tray? Or do you you have it set only to run when you run the application?

Hey Nightshade ~
Okey-dokey, I looked in Tools > Options > General and saw that I hadn't selected "Automatically detect media (shows icon in the system tray)"... and now that I've checked the check-box new image files immediately get scanned & filed by Picasa (and a little tab slides out to tell you so...hmmm, not sure this is really necessary

)
Thanks so much

... Picasa really is an excellent program!

Oy-veh! Nope, that's not working either. I just created a new subdirectory in My Pictures and put some new image files it it, then opened Picasa and Picasa doesn't show the directory.

Have you tried uninstalling, deleting the directory and reinstalling after a restart. Before you go that far though check the setting and make sure it is still checked off.
