Just got a new Casio Exilim camera. For some reason I cannot transfer my pics to my computer. When I plug in the USB it keeps saying a higher speed drive would be better and will not go forward from that point at all. I can take the memory card out and go through my printer but I want to be able to transfer from the camera.

Any help would be appreciated. I have a Dell Dimension with Windows XP Home.

Thank you!

Hi WK888 hello.gif

You might be plugging your camera into a USB 1 port on your computer, and your camera is a USB 2, the USB 2 is a higher speed. You might want to check what you have on your computer, and let us know, and someone with more knowledge can help you.

How difficult is it to add a USB 2 to my computer?

Thanks!

You must upgrade the USB port that you have to a USB2 port, that means removing the old and purchasing and installing a new port. Very easy to do and low cost. Then you must run SP2 and install USB2 software. USB2 is much faster.

Can a novice do this?

Thanks again.

You need a USB 2 card that'll fit a Dell. If you can crack the case you can do it.

Thanks for the info, I'll give it a shot.

An alternative option might be to purchase a Card Reader. They are reasonably inexpensive and get your photos from your camera to your computer much faster than going through the printer. You simply plug in your card reader (which is about the size of a small mouse) into a USB port and put your camera card into it. Your computer wizard will kick in and upload the photos from your card to your computer at much faster speed than your printer would normally do it. This also saves your camera batteries as transerferring images from camera directly through to your computer draws a lot of battery power from your camera unless you are plugged into power in which case your camera to computer cable limits your movements around the desktop. Just food for thought. Good luck. smile.gif
