I just got a new Samsung 1080p 40" LCD video display and it totally blew me away. 15,000:1 contrast ratio, and capable of HD and Blueray. Unbelievable color depth and definition, even with my floor to ceiling windows in the family room, the sun doesn't stand a chance with this screen. Only thing that could stand improvement is the sound-for some reason Samsung has floor-directed speakers, a bum-idea. I really don't care, I am going to pick up a lower cost speaker and amp setup for the TV anyway. I got a super deal, ordered it online from Amazon, saved around $800 compared to "Bust By".

The folks got a 46" Sharp Aquos a couple weeks ago, and it's phenominal! I'd get one, except I don't watch enough TV to merit spending $1700 on a new one. I watch an occasional movie on the computer on this 24" widescreen, and it's all I need.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I got a HDMI cable and viewed my first Blue-Ray movie last week end, and it was totally awsome. Lord of the Rings on this screen - I saw detail in the costumes that I never saw before!

I miss black and white TVs.
