Hey ppl, the noobie needs some help! Serious help! This may take a while!

About a month ago i decided to upgrade my pc's motherboard from a PIII 1Ghz, so i brought a brand new one ,a P Dual-core 5.6Ghz (Elitegroup P4M900T -M) installed it all...something wouldnt work. Realized my PSU wasnt powerful enough, so i bought a stronger one (400w) and 1gb DDR2 ram.

Had to wait nearly 5 weeks for the ram to come! finally got it yesterday, put it in turned it on and the BIOS setup started. As i was setting the time and date it froze, so i left it for 5 mins but still nothing. So like an idiot i panicked and turned ma pc off. Now when i turn it on, i can hear the fan running and CPU fan, but the screen stays unresponsive, as does my keyboard & mouse.

Now i've done a lot of research into updating the motherbaord before diving madly into something i know nothing about, and since this happened have been reading alot more. Ive read that removing the CMOS battery would fix it.... tried but nothing, ive read that clearing the 3 pin CMOS by switching it from pins 1 & 2 to 2 & 3 would fix it.... tried but nothing, and i also read that reseting the BIOS by attaching a jumper to the BIOS pin on the motherboard would reload the BIOS setup that i stupidly switched off, but ive tried and still nothing!

Im about to explode with frustration, after waiting weeks for my RAM to arrive, and now this!

If ANYONE has ANY ideas about what could be causing this, how to fix this, if they've had the same problem, i would be very, very grateful!

Thanks

K!

Please post the specs & components, especially what is new and what is original, on your computer so we know what we are dealing with. Also, at the top of the Hardware & Multimedia forum is a pinned post, "homebuilder's techniques" that may give you some help.

I have a Dual Core 5.6ghz processor (new) that came with the ELITEgroup motherboard (new) with 1x 1gb DDR2 RAM (new) a 400w PSU (new), with a 30GB HDD and no extra graphics cards (both older), into a standard pc case.

Ill have a look in the homebuilder's techniques, thanks, but incase i dont find anything...any suggestions??
