Ok it took me two tries to log in it has been awile since my last visit here. I am going into some new territory and do know where I can usual find some good assistance so here I am.

I finally have built my own system and am very happy with it....for now. My goal is to sport 3 monitors. I have a viewsonic 20 inch DVI-I LCD and 2, 15 inch gateway VGA type. I think my main usage would be to maybe have internet open on one and maybe some programs open for editing on others. I still am on 56k living in the stix so I need something to do in my spare time while Im waiting for the page to load. roflmao.gif My system consits of an Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe main board with Toledo X2 4400 cpu, 2 GB ram. I am only running one GeForce 7600GT card now but plan to purchase another umm tomorrow. This would give me 4 available male DVI-I, plugs 2 per card.

My plans right now are to plug the 2, 15 inch vga monitors into one card with an adaptor for each and the viewsonic 20 inch DVI into the other card running DVI cable. Well I wanted another card anyways to run my SLI but am confused about the best setup possibility for these 3 monitors and really how to set them up.

Thank you for any help thanks.gif

Hi megabyte, long time no see! Yeah, we use these a lot at work, it's a VGA switch. HERE is an example (the bottom unit). Research this carefully-what you want is a bit tricky with 3 units; and you also want independence for all three screens (not showing the same screen on 3 monitors). Also, some of these won't work with DVI or digital or Hi-Res. If you can find these at Newegg, you may get some consumer ratings as to how well they work. Good hunting!

Hey. Thanks for the reply. I have ordered an identical video card for SLI, a DVI cable and an adaptor from the egg. This gives me 2 vid cards 4 DVI ports with two vga to DVI monitors and one DVI to DVI monitor. I have been doing research and have seen some problems with running multiple monitors in SLI mode? Also some heat issues with the video cards I have read about?

I dont know if the switch you have suggested was exactly what I was looking for but sometimes, I quote, "You cant always get what you want." cry.gif That investment might be worthy to me if I had 3, 20 inch LCDs instead of the VGA monitors in my setup. I am just experimenting and if only 2 monitors is what I can get then I will probably go with that.

Thanks,
Rob cheers 2.gif

I have my 20 inch wide lcd DVI screen hooked into primary card. And the 2 VGA hooked into secondary card. All monitors are responding independently with resolution and visual. They are not SLI capable. The two vga monitors will go blank when SLI is enabled. This is not a problem I do not want 3 screens while playing a game.
I guess it wasnt to big of a deal to get going just some settings on card and display properties. I was a lil scared of all the controversy I was finding about the ability to run multiple monitors. I dont know how to post a pic here it looks cool as he##. Im stoked.
