First post - be gentle on me. Also I'm a bit of a luddite so I've turned to the experts, as I'm stranded.

I've got a laptop and wireless router provided by my work. They did all the work, so when I plugged it, in it worked fine.

Now, I've just bought a Dell C521 desktop with Vista home basic, and a wireless USB - to tie into the router I have. I've installed the wireless USB driver, and plugged in the USB wireless adapter, but no matter what I do, Vista can't see the router. I've seached Google, but not found anything that worked.

Does anyone have any suggestions

Ta in advance.

this may be redundant (maybe you already attempted this)

in vista first off run a hardwire to the new dell from your router.
click on the start button, then Network button. on the task bar you will see "add a wireless device" click it. and follow the on screen prompts. if my memory holds up after clicking the a"dd a wireless device" there is an option for a usb network card near the bottom of the window. Vista should set it all up for you.

Since you say your "work" provided all the "know how" you will wnat to get the wireless settings from them as im sure the wireless network has security enbled. You will need the wireless settings from your workplace to add the Dell.
