I was wondering if anyone knew of PC Tools AntiVirus Free Edition (http://www.download.com/PC-Tools-AntiVirus-Free-Edition/3000-2239_4-10706842.html) / (http://www.pctools.com/free-antivirus/) is any good or not? Will it get the job done or is there better free, if so what?

Hello alienboy;
Safe to say, theres no one single program that does it all.

Hang around the boards here at SAF and you'll get many good suggestions of a free set of applications that generally will handle 90% of the job.

If you're looking to have a squeaky clean computer, format your HD, install you OS clean and never-never connect to the INTERNET.

Avast has a free edition, that works well. No price to pay.

The link that I provided is for avast free edition; NOD32 is good too, but I’m not sure that they have a free version of their product:
