i would thank any help on how to get my 250 gb hd to be seen by the os in its full size. I wanted to have only one partition, but that didn't work. So i did two 125 gb partitions, i can see one of them in full size; but the other partition reports only about 10 gb as free space out of 125 gb. This happens on both my os's: ubuntu and win-xp.Can this be fixed on the os or do i have to try an update for th bios? My problem computer is running with a 750 mhz processor and 384 mb ram, an additional 40 gb hd and a dvd-rw drive. Any ideas are welcome, thanx. banghead.gif banghead.gif banghead.gif banghead.gif banghead.gif

Hi Julio

Welcome to SAF

Well there are a number of things you could do.

1: Obtain a partitioning manager like Partition Magic and resize the partitions using that. (It wouldn't be my way though)

2: Transfer all your personal stuff on to the 40 GB for the time being and do a brand new install of XP on the 250GB

Using the second option will allow you to make one or more partitions on the drive when installing.
You must however format the partitions in NTFS and you must format all partitions for them to be seen in My Computer.
Make sure the 250GB is set on IDE 0 as Primary Master, obviously the dvd and the 40GB can be configured how you want on IDE 1

Are running Ubuntu off the cd or dual booting?
