First off I live in Italy. I am an American in the military located in a small area. No big base for help. I have a Dell E510 Desktop that connects to the Internet via Ethernet and a Alice GateW2+ ADSL modem(and I think also a router due to the wifi capability and multi Ethernet ports on the rear). I hassled just to get on the internet for a while till I managed it.

Now I bought Dell E1705 laptop and was trying to connect wifi through the same modem. The problem is only one computer at a time can log on. Meaning if I want to surf with my laptop I have to disconnect the desktop's connection. Its annoying, I bought this laptop so both my wife and I could go to school. I suck at networking but am computer literate. In Italy its a lot harder, I don't speak good Italian so my tech support is limited. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You will need a router in order to connect both systems to the Internet. Connect each computer to the router via CAT5 or CAT6 Ethernet cables and connect the modem to the router as well. Follow the router's configuration instructions by the number. You may also need to purchase an external broadband modem. You should be able to obtain those parts at your base or post exchange.
