I have Western Digital 80GB Hard Disk, which need to reformat. I use to have Windows XP on it. But i messed it, while i was formatting with XP bootable CD. In the middle of formatting i used windows 2000 CD to format....and by the end ..... formatting was failed.

I am at the point, that i cannot format with my Windows XP or Windows 2000 CD.
i see the message that harddisk is only like 9MB and windows cannot
install on it. (It cannot recognize the rest of Hard Disk, which is actually
80GB Hard Disk).

I am thinking that only way to format is to have bootable DOS CD with
some dos format, fdisk tools .....but i am not able to make a DOS OS bootable CD.

I don't have floppy disk for the computer.

If can find a DOS bootable CD, i can try to format with that...and install fresh Windows XP OS on it.

Any suggestions are appriciated.

Hello, naveenK, and welcome to our forum.

You might try going to THIS SITE and downloading a Windows 98 Boot Disc and use it's fdisk to recreate your partition.

I can't understand why you changed disks halfway through Navkeen, any reason?
If you want to use an old 98 disk then fdisk it only, don't format it.
Delete all partitions which if you used W2k or XP should be listed as non dos, ie NTFS
What type of XP disk do you have ie;
Full edition
OEM edition
Recovery disk

If full or OEM then alter the first boot sequence in the bios and insert the XP disk and wipe and recreate partitions using that.
