Hello, Im interested in buying a new video card but i don’t want to buy something i can’t get the max out off or is too much for my system. I would appreciated any input. I have a p4 3.0speed processor. This is the mother board I have
http://www.superwarehouse.com/Asus_P5P800_...P5P800/p/439860. I have looked at the gforce series 8, I think for my usage gaming mainly I should get the 8800 320mb but im not 100% sure if this is a wise idea and if the card would work fine on the mother board. Or is this video card too much for that mother board. Thanks in advance
(1st tiem posting not sure if this is the right place, sorry)

Hello Lola,
As long as the card you choose is an AGP platform and your mainboard has an AGP slot it will work. At this point AGP is disappearing and you don't have a lot of choice in cards. Don't spend a lot of money on an AGP video card, in another year (or less) they won't exist anymore, everything is going PCIe and the game demands are going to increase also to match the superior processing power of the new platform.

I saw this post and thought I may be able to help, I build cutom pc's, extreme mod cases etc..., so thought may be I would stick an answer here,
I see you do have an AGP slot, With the processor you have (what memory do you have, how much) I would not spend a whole lot of money either until you upgrade to PCIE.
I ran the BFG 6800GT Oc for 2 years and could run every game out there, many of them at full graphics.
I have recentley upgraded to the PCIE and have 2 of the BFG 6800's I will be getting rid of or you can find new ones cheap on ebay etc... The cards I have, one is water cooled (comes with water cooler) the other has Zallman cooler on it, one of the best coolers on the market. They are both very stable cards and had been taken well care of, but by all means buy new if that is what you rather have.
Depending on your whole setup, this is what I woukd do given the same situation.
By the way, the newer 8800, 7600 etc... cards are nice, but I beleive still no match for the BFG 6800 that I used.
Also, there is one card that is the KING of agp if you wish to spend the money and can still find them, what are you looking to spend? are you spending enough you could do a full upgrade?
Anyway, it depends on what you are willing to do and the money you have to spend, I do alot of gaming, hardware reviews and do aolt of graphic work also, and are very happy about my decisions so far.
My 3 cents worth, if you would like more advice just ask....
