I'm running 98 on a fairly elderly Toshiba 1400 laptop. I've done a major clean up with HJT etc. Just wondered if friends here had any tips for speeding up performance and internet access.

It's not bad - just not as quick as other machines in the house - and as it's my wifes - I'm trying to get a win without having to buy a new - more up to date machine !!

ANy clues ?

Best wishes

Hi and welcome to SAF! You may have already done what I am going to suggest, but I thought I'd post anyway. This is a good place to start. First, delete your History. You can find your History by going to Tools, Internet Options and then choosing the button that says "Clear History" without the quotes. Also while you are in Internet Options, you should delete your Internet Files. You will find the button that does this in the middle section of the Internet Options properties box. Left click on the button that says "Delete Files" without the quotes. Another thing that you might try is to run Disk Defragmenter and System File Checker and Disk Cleanup if you haven't already. Also another thing that you might consider is adding more RAM (computer memory). More RAM makes computers run faster. Again, welcome!! smile.gif

One thing David, there are no short cuts with women... laugh.gif Just joking but I just posted (and look inside as there are other links) in Web Links Downloads or something like that below this Topic Area. Good Luck, you will need it.
