Thanks for any help,

If you want w/less network accessing the internet through a router (which is what the majority of users want) you will need a wireless router, with at least a 804.11 G (2.4GHz) output, which is directly cabled into your main incoming machine, and in each of your other node computers a wireless NIC (Network Interface Card) to receive the signal. You will install the configuration software as per the instructions that come with the router. Windows should detect the NICs in each node computer automatically. Each computer will have to be configured with the same workgroup name.

Since I do not have Vista, I have no experience with it. But whatever router and NIC you buy will have complete instructions with them. I personally like D-Link brand, but LinkSys is very popular also. After you have everything up and configured, take a few minutes to carefully write down all the settings and keep them in a safe place; they will prove invaluable in the event of system corruption. I actually took screen shots of the different screens and printed them out.

After everything is set up and operating smoothly, be very sure to encrypt with minimally 64 bit, because your signal is being broadcast for 100 ft. in every direction and invites hackers. Also others can utilitze your bandwidth to surf the internet. In and of itself that is not necessarily bad, but they can use your IP address to attempt illegal activities and that would land YOU in trouble!
