hi every1
hope some1 can help me with this problem.
I have a 3 or 4 yr old HP Pavilion 451.uk desktop, some "whiz kid" decided to install xp professional and something called "whistler" (which are the only 2 options I have when booting up. I have no validation key for either of these systems therefore cant upgrade from windows update. However, the sticker with the original validation key is still on the tower). The original OS was xp home edition. I have noticed the drive is NTFS and not FAT32, could this be cos he has partioned the drive. Can I uninstall these 2 unwanted Os's without a recovery disk as I didnt get 1 with the pc and the seller says he didnt have 1 either. I wondered if there was a way to UNpartition the drive and access the original OS.
Here's hoping u can help
Thank u

If you don't have restore cd's and or lost the recovery partition that had the needed files -> you'll have to purchase another copy of XP.

Tap f9 or f10 during startup and you may be able to restore the original configuration using the numbers on the side of the PC.
