I prviously had posted a problem of limited or no connectivity happening every 2 or so hours rquiring me to reboot the computer to reconnect to my LAN...Evidently it was on so long on this forum it was closed out... Anyway after all these months and trying a lot of things, it turned out not to be a cable or network card problem... The problem also became worse, happening every 5-10 minutes of connect time... It was my Panda Firewall causing the problem.... I have now changed to Comodo Firewall Pro and I just thumb up.gif tested staying connected to my LAN for 15 straight hours and no problem... Thanks to all in the past for their help and I hope this might also help someone else who develops the same problem... Dick M.

Strange, because different security software packages shouldn't restrict access to a LAN ... I presume you're connected wirelessly?

I think you sometimes get some kind of interference; I have a laptop connected wirelessly to a router, and the straight-line distance between them is probably no more than 20 feet, but sometimes the connection drops out for no known or good reason.

One evening last week, I moved the laptop to the same room as the router, so the straight-line distance was less than 6 feet. I still had a momentary drop-out, but it did connect again a couple of minutes later.

I use ZoneAlarm free firewall and has no connectivity problems. I guess your Panda firewall was not properly set. rolleyes.gif

I have wideband service thru a dish on my place shooting up to a local small Mtn and the providers equipment.... I have checked the settings on the Panda firewall over and over and they were set properly... All I know, and being rather computer illiterate, is that I have had nothing but problems with the Panda firewall, and even the Anti-virus system of Panda...The A-V Slows the system down terribly... It would take me up to 10 minutes to boot up before I could get connected to the Internet... now that I have swithed to AVG free Anti-virus and Comodo free firewall Pro. , my boot up time is about one minute now... No more Panda software for me... I stuck with it for about 3 years.... No more ... Dick M.
