Hello,

I have a newbie question I was hoping someone could help me with.

I have a security camera system made by Speco at home on a network with a laptop and a Buffalo WHR 54G router.

I would like to be able to access the video from a remote location such as work or elsewhere. The Speco makes this pretty easy in that all you have to do is log onto the ip address and it automatically installs the software needed to view the video.

My question is how do I remotely access it via the router when it's not a Windows based system?

Is it possible to access the router and from there access the Speco? Is this done with Port Forwarding? I know remote desktop wouldn't work because it's not Windows based.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Have you checked the Speco site for 'How-to' information?

Yes, I have all the manuals that came with the system and I've checked the website for information. The information is limited at best.

I was hoping for tips on configuring the Buffalo Router. I flashed the router with DD-WRT firmware.

Speco provides a software program called Remote Agent that is supposed to connect directly to the DVR that controls the camera's but I can't seem to make the connection. My guess is that it's the Router.

The trigger port on the security system is Port 80 and I've forwarded that port on the router but it hasn't worked yet.

Thanks for the suggestion and the link Jim.
