I just started working for a small non-profit healtcare facility that has a Cisco 1710 router connected to a high speed cable modem and Dlink fast ethernet switches for about 20 PCs.

Problem: I don't have any documentation on the router, don't know how to access it, and I was told by a nurse that this light blue flat LAN cable is the router connection cable (console port in back). I hook this cable up to a laptop to the console port, and nothing happens. I went to Cisco's web site to learn more and found out about SDM. I don't know if our router has that, what the current settings are, etc. If something were to go down, I could only power down and up to hopefully recover.

Please help, my username says it all.

Thanks Don
