Internet explorer doesn't work. I keep getting Invalid syntax error and the page cannot be displayed. I cannot get into sites such as "www.google.com" "www.firefox.com", But I can go on www.microsoft.com
Also I get a message when I try extracting files saying. Windows has blocked this program to protect your computer.

I thought you installed a ZIP program recently (thread in Malicious Code forum). In My Computer, click on the Tools menu, then Folder Options and the 'File Types' tab. Scroll down to ZIP and highlight it. Let us know what program ZIP files open with (see screenshot below).
As regards the IE problem, you had many infections on that system. Some critical files may have been damaged. I suggest you install IE7 and see if the problem persists or not. If you don't like IE7, you can uninstall it and revert to IE6 in Add/Remove Programs.

Click on Start > Run and type or copy the bold text to the Open: box:
REGSVR32 ZIPFLDR.DLL
Open NotePad and copy paste the bold text below to it:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.zip]
"Content Type"="application/x-zip-compressed"
"PerceivedType"="compressed"
@="CompressedFolder"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.zip\CompressedFolder]
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.zip\CompressedFolder\ShellNew]
"Data"=hex:50,4b,05,06,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.zip\OpenWithProgids]
"CompressedFolder"=""
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.zip\PersistentHandler]
@="{098f2470-bae0-11cd-b579-08002b30bfeb}"
In NotePad, click on File, then 'Save as' > 'All Files' and name it FixZip.REG. Save it to the desktop and double-click on it. OK the message to merge it with the Windows registry. Reboot and see if you can open ZIP files.
