About
Paint.NET is free image editing and photo manipulation software designed to be used on computers that run Windows. It supports layers, unlimited undo, special effects, and a wide variety of useful and powerful tools.
It started development as an undergraduate college senior design project mentored by Microsoft, and is currently being maintained by some of the alumni that originally worked on it. Originally intended as a free replacement for the MS Paint software that comes with Windows, it has grown into a powerful yet simple tool for photo and image editing.
The programming language used to create Paint.NET is C#, with a small amount of C++ for installation and shell-integration related functionality.

Minimum System

* Windows XP (SP2 or later),
or Windows Vista,
or Windows Server 2003 (SP1 or later)
* .NET Framework 2.0
* 500 MHz processor (Recommended: 800 MHz or faster)
* 256 MB of RAM (Recommended: 512 MB or more)
* 1024 x 768 screen resolution
* 200+ MB hard drive space
* 64-bit support requires a 64-bit CPU that is running a 64-bit version of Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows Server 2003, and an additional 128 MB of RAM

Please note that Paint.NET uses your hard drive to store temporary files related to undo/redo. Because of this, actual disk space requirements will depend on the type of actions you perform on an image, and on the size of the image.

I've never used it Zenith. Have you tried uninstalling it, than reinstalling it?? Maybe it will work better, you could have had a bad install the first time.

Hi Zenith ..... I have it but only use it on a hit-and-miss basis. I've never had any trouble with it though - it's just that Irfanview is soooooo automatic - seems like I just reach for it without even thinking.

However, I do know that the 3.05 version was supposed to have some bugs in it, so I never did update to it and am still running the 3.0. Perhaps you had 3.05 and that is what was causing you to have problems.

I know some people who like the program quite a bit and use it constantly, so maybe as Lorraine said, just a fresh install might help.

I'm not sure what version I used beatsme.gif but the program would hang and stop responding and use excessive amounts of ram. I think I did try uninstalling and installing it again this was a while back so the lastest version should be much better.

Nothing is amazing.
It is NET 2.0 application.

Try to use GIMP instead. It is free!
