I just loaded a new Avatar - a "gif" that is within the Board guidelines for both dimensions and file size. It loaded OK but it is not animated (the candle flame is supposed to "flicker". I wonder what I did wrong? I tried twice and nothing changed. Any advice? Thanks much!

Your avatar is showing up as a 'JPG' when I click on property.

That's very strange that it is showing as a jpeg because I have it saved as a gif. It is animated just fine when I look at it in Irfanview, or even Animation Shop.

Here is a screenshot of the file in Irfanview showing it as a GIF, and also a separate image of the candle itself.

Try this Mrs. Bond, save the animated image to your 'My Pictures' folder, and upload it to your avatar from there, and see what happens

It's already in "My Pictures" folder Lorraine ---- that's where I save all my pictures. I never load an Avatar directly from the source - I don't like doing that. I do however load from the source on "Signatures" because that is what is required by this board.

I just went back to Photo Bucket again and got a fresh new copy of the candle, put it in "My Pictures" again (with a different name this time), and tried to upload it again as my Avatar, but it still doesn't work. I too checked "Properties" and you are right in that it does say "jpeg" ............ that is soooooooooo strange.

To further mystify things, I have set this same identical image as an Avatar on another computer board that I belong to and it works just fine. Don't worry about it as it's really not that important I guess .......... just kind of aggravating and it has me extremely curious as to what is wrong.

I'll find another Avatar and load it up here later this evening.

That is strange that it changes to JPEG. Maybe someone will pop in that might have an idea. You never know, something might come up.

I took the image URL from the animated one you uploaded in this topic and linked it in your profile.

Normally we'd have you house your image on your own server, but this one won't hurt for now.
