I have 2 hard disks in my pc both with a copy of Xp Pro Sp2 installed on each. I.e Dual boot. On is my primary / system OS and the other is for my music studio. We'll call this the Studio Drive OS. I can select which OS to load during the boot.

However, there is a problem with the primary / system OS as after the bios I get a SYSTEM BOOT FAILURE message (you know, the one you get if the HD wasnt plugged in). The only was around this at present is to make the bios to boot my PC from other disk with the music studio OS. I can then get to the select which OS installation to load into. I can select the primary / system OS from here and windows loads ok.

Effectively, when my PC searches, the Primary system drive, it files to find the OS. If I boot from the Studio Drive OS. I can load window FROM the Primary / System drive.

What is causing this? How can I fix it. Is it to do with the boot.ini file?

The only was around this at present is to make the bios to boot my PC from other disk with the music studio OS -> Why not leave it this way? It gives you the boot menu?
