I have a laptop(about 7 years old) with Windows 98 SE. Right now, if I keep the machine on, all is well. If I turn it off...then it takes about 5-10 unpluggings and repluggings and 5-10 times turning the machine off and then back on to get it to work. I have one USB port on the machine, but the mouse doesn't work using it. Therefore I use an adaptor between the mouse cable and the round port in the back of the machine. This problem basically began after I had TWC high-speed(road runner) cable installed about 3 weeks ago. The internet speed still isn't "high" but I can live with it. I use an Ethernet high-speed connection. I had to install a parallel cable just to get the computer communicating with the printer.

When the machine is going crazy, the screen will blink all over the place. When you move the cursor, it just goes really nuts. Then I have to go through my routine just to get it to work again.

Please advise on possible problems with my setup. Thank you for your time.
