Ive used Linksys WRT5G v2 router for about 3 years without a problem.. all of a sudden it will not work.

I am using Verizon DSL,
it use to be setup has Automatic DHCP and i have tried PPOE entering the correct username/password
ive changed the IP to 192.168.2.1 and connected and i recieve an error stating Cannot find IP address of PPOPE or something similar. I have power cycled my devices and restarted my computer many times.
ive release and renewed DHCP in router options. done run - cmd - ipconfig /release - ipconfig /renew
and the repair option.

When i look under IP and other stuff its all 0000000
if that helps.

i dont know whats wrong with it ? can anyone help. router back to get internet back on 5 other computers theyve been down for a week

it works fine when directly connecting modem to PC using ethernet

I have downloaded the latest firmware update and i have a Westell WireSpeed modem

Just a first thought, as it was working and stopped all of a sudden as you said, have you tried a system restore to a date just before the problem started ?

<Start/Run ->Programs ->Accessories ->System Tools ->System restore>

well i dont think that would work. it works when the modem is directly connected to the PC but not when using the router.

my PC is on plugged into Port 4 on my router. the internet LED is on, power LED is on, Port 4 LED is on, WAN LED is on and on my modem Ehternet, Ready and Power is ON. I have already tried a power cycle (unplugging the units for a few seconds and replugging it in)

Windows XP says my network is connected but when using WAN on my laptop or my other computers or using my PC on port 4.

I have already scanned for spyware, viruses worms.
none of turned up and my firewall is activated

I went to cmd and used ping www.microsoft.com
ping www.msn.com
ping www.google.com

and it doesnt work. says cannot be found

i think my router is not detecting an IP or DNS.. something like that but idk im not too knowledable in networking
