I can't find a software that can move a whole program from one partition to another ( lets say from c to d ) while taking account of all accociated files in different places, updating all the different shortcuts and everything else. just totally moving a program from 'c' to 'd' perfectly while taking acount of everything.
Does anyone know. . ? I'm looking for something free, because it is not a complex task.
(its too complicated and time consuming to uninstall and reinstall 56 programs. . .)
I will deeply thank anyone who knows what this free program is and where I can get it, thanks.

Actually it's a very complex task which is why you're probably having troubles finding anything espicially free.
Acronis True Image will let to clone to a larger drive AND adjust partition size at the same time.

I've used
COA2 for years, and it's great. Just copy the program folder from the old location to the new location, then browse to the locations in COA2 and let it do it's thing. It makes .ini file changes, registry changes, and shortcut changes. Once moved and working OK, you can delete the folder in the original location.

On the link it says that the installer does not work with XP SP2; kind of leaves it a bit unclear if it will install with SP1 or not at all on XP, although XP is not listed as being supported (?).

That is strange, since I've had a copy of the program for several years, and when I install it on XP-SP2, it's never complained. Never noticed that comment. Also, found a couple free downloads for it....
http://www.free-pc.hu/unic/system/descript...angead.zip.htmlhttp://marmro.homeip.net/Description/coa2.zip.htmlYou can also try Funduc's ($15)
Application Mover. It will provide 10 moves in trial mode.
Addendum.... I ran the installer and reinstalled COA2 on my XP-SP2 and it ran fine. This is the one I've had in my file storage for a few years, but it is exactly the same file size as the downloads above.

'tis strange. I used to use that program and when I first went to XP I could never get it to work. I finally deleted and had forgotten about it, assuming it was no longer around.
It used to do a good job until I got XP.

Perhaps you had the older COA instead of COA2. COA wouldn't work in Win2K, either. I just moved a small system-related program from C:\Program Files to D:\System and it worked great. First time I've used COA2 in a couple of years.

I did have COA and then got COA2. It has been so long now (past yesterday) I don't remember for sure which I used. I do seem to remember I did not like COA2 as well as COA, although I do not remember why. It is possible I only tried COA.
Thanks Jim, I think I will download and try again as I am in the process of doing a lot of restoring on mine computer.

Hope it all works OK for you, Kenneth.
Another program I recall that does this, too, is Magic Mover, which was a part of
Partition Magic. I don't see it listed in the current features for version 8, however.
