Newegg just dropped the price of a really hot processor to $175, free shipping!; a few months ago this badboy was over $300! Dual core, 2.6GHz before overclocking, 2X1meg L2 cache. Add Abit's $80 mainboard and you have the foundation of a really hot machine.

Here's an update: incredible bargain on this one, basically the same as the one above, just has 2.5GHz instead of 2.6, and 512 L2 cache instead of 1meg. $135

Well, you have top support with your "other half", but usually when something dies on a mainboard it dies, period. May be something else, I am sure we are willing to help if you need it.

I'm in denial Ranchand.:

Actually, in my opinion there are a few bits of hardware failing, but it is hold and has served it's purpose. I got it very cheap because I kept at the refurbished site everyday for months. I snatched it up when I found it because it was a great deal, so I've gotten my money's worth out of it.
My "better half" (haha!) says he'll help me build a new one if I can ever decide to part with the money! I can't help it. If this one is still kicking I can't be compelled to spend money. But maybe this deal will convince me.

Well, remember that you will need a new mainboard to go with the processor; you can use your existing hard drive and optical drive(s), but you will also need new memory and a new vid. card because everything has gone PCIe now. Probably can make your existing case work, and power supply also if it is at least 400 watts. Probably run around $500 +or- when you are done.

I know that ranchhand! Course that estimate you're talking is almost more than I paid for this machine in full.
