Sorry you feel that way, Phoenix.
I grew up on an ranch, and always had my buddy dogs with me whereever I went. I noticed something from an early age, though.
I noticed that if I said in a low, soft tone of voice, "Nibs, you are a total ninny, I hate you, and you should learn to be a better dog.", he would come up and lick my hand and wag his tail with love in his eyes.
Now, if I said in a loud, threatening yell, "NIBS, I LOVE YOU AND YOU ARE THE GREATEST DOG EVER!", he would put his tail between his legs and slink away into a corner and sit there trembling.
How we phrase things in written form can communicate as much as the subject we are writing on. Using tact and diplomacy will take us further than being direct and undiplomatic. This may be the problem. You have a fine knowledge of hardware technology, there is no question about it. Perhaps using tact when answering questions will not put folks on the defensive.
For example, in a recent post a person attempted to use Hijack this and said she found a "list" of things, and your response:
QUOTE
You found a list... list of what? list of grocery items? list of programs? list of .... how about providing some details so we can suggestion a better answer? If you're talking about a list of cookies - they're harmless for the most part and you most certainly don't need HiJack This to those out.
It well may be you intended no insult, but some reading this detect sarcasm even though you may not have intended.
Phoenix, you are welcome at SAF. Just try to soften your comments a little. You obviously have an in-depth knowledge which is valuable, and most folks don't have that kind of experience in computer technology.
