I have 2 computers and a laptop. I have a printer hooked up to one of the computers and my friend previously was able to share the printer with my laptop, but I cannot get the 2nd computer to find the printer. I have gone through the steps to share the printer, and it's obviously working with the laptop. Both computers are running XP. I can't even detect the printer from the 2nd computer. I'm at a complete loss! HELP!!

Thanks smile.gif

Hi rcascone hello.gif

Sorry, there wasn't any answer for you, maybe there is something in here that might help, although you probably did all of it, but just thought there might have been something you may have missed. HERE

I donlt know if this has an effect, but I always make sure all my computers are on the same 'workgroup' name.

Right click My Computer, click Properties, then click Computer Name tab. In there, below the 'Full computer name', you will see 'Workgroup'....make sure all are set the same. To change it, click the change button, and click on the workgroup 'radio button', then type in MSHOME, or WORKGROUP, or whatever name you want to put them all under (it can be almost anything). Then click ok, then apply, then ok.

Do same on all machines (might be best to see what 'workgroup' the 2 machines that DO connect are in), and see if it helps.

Good luck.

not sure if you still need help although to be able to see the printer you must install the driver for the printer on to the computer,
then set up a new printer using the start menu "printers"
